HyTime, a Hypermedia/Time-depending Structuring Language, occurs as markup language that is an "application" of SGML. HyTime defines the placed of hypertext-oriented element types that, inside effect, supplement SGML & allow SGML document authors to build hypertext & multimedithe system presentations in a standardized way.

HyTime is an international standard published per ISO and IEC. A 1st edition was published inside 1992, and a 2nd edition was published around 1997.

A few of the conception formalized within HyTime were in the future incorporated into HTML and XML. HTML defines the simplified subplaced of SGML consisting of the fixed set of element types for hypertext document presentations, & assigns specific semantics and processing expectations in people element types. XML defines the simplified subset of SGML that focuses in providing an open vocabulary of element types for data modeling and establishes precise expectations for how else a marked-up information is read & later on fed to an additional software system application for even farther processing, however doesn't assign semantics to a element types or establish expectations for how else the data is made.
